WOW #126: Heart Creatures

Last week I was faced with the challenge of coming up with a fun craft to do with a classroom full of second graders.  Of course, my new go-to place for craft ideas is always Pinterest!  So I searched on Pinterest and found lots and lots of fun crafts…the only problem was finding one that could be completed in 10 to 15 minutes.  Then I decided to do a little Pinterest search for “heart animals” and found lots of inspiration!

I pulled out my trusty Silhouette Cameo and started cutting hearts.

After cutting about seventy-bazillion hearts, I was ready to make some fun samples.

Here are the projects I put together:

A puppy:

A fishy:

And a little love bug:

Obviously, I was creating a project for a Valentine’s Day party, but this would be a fun project to do with your kids any time of year!  Simply cut the hearts out of any color of cardstock (and no, you won’t need seventy-bazillion…we didn’t even need that many for an entire classroom full of kids – but my teenager used up all the rest of the hearts decorating some front doors of her friends – so there’s always a use for extra hearts!)  Some of the kids at the school created little monsters and other creatures.  Really, the possibilities are endless – and kids are SO creative…it’s fun to see what they can come up with on their own – just give them a basket full of random sized hearts and a glue stick and see what they can come up with! :)
