Beanbags are easy and inexpensive to make, and perfect for cold-weather indoor games. Plus, they’re a great handmade gift for all those nieces and nephews on your holiday list.

I made three sets of these cute beanbags with a scrap yard of flannel and a bag of pinto beans. My daughter had a great time helping me – she filled the bags as I sewed them up. I wanted the gifts to seem a little more exciting than a bunch of beanbags though, so I put together some game cards with 16 game ideas, plus 4 blank ones to fill in with games you make up. Printed on cardstock and trimmed to size, the whole package is a really fun gift that I’m excited to give.
BEAN BAG INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut flannel to 5 x 9″
- Fold in half, right sides together.
- Sew around two of the open sides and part of the third.
- Turn right side out, fill with beans, and sew the opening closed. (A 6 x 6″ scrap of cardstock, rolled and taped into a cone made the perfect funnel for a 5-year-old helper.)
These printable game cards are available here as a free download, just for you. Happy Holidays!

Crafting is a huge creative outlet for me. I love handmade items of all varieties, but I really like making things that can be worn or used - you will usually find me sewing an apron, making a bracelet or stocking up on thank-you and birthday cards.
I work as a graphic designer for all Northridge publications and you can read my Real Life article in Scrapbook Trends every month. Working for crafting magazines is definitely a double-edged sword. While I love being able to work in this fun, creative and vibrant industry, there is constantly a mountain of 'unfinished', 'to be started' and 'CUTE - I must make that!' projects that may someday take over our entire home. Until that day- happy crafting!

Looks like a fun indoor project to make with the kids when it’s cold outside! Than they can play with the game they made themselves! Instant memories!!!
This is so cute!
so cute…how do you get the printable cards?
This is just too cute! tfs.
Very cute. I made these last night. I had one piece of fabric that was a little smaller, 8 X 5, and I think it actually fit little 3 year old hands better than the square. Thanks so much for the ideas. It worked well for our preschool today!
