Award Winning Style: Pamella Brown

Every month in Scrapbook Trends Magazine, our Editor-in-Chief Pam Baird selects one designer who demonstrates an award-winning style. In our July 2012 issue, she selected Pamella Brown .  Pamella’s style is so fun and she has a true talent for mixing and matching patterned papers!  I took the opportunity to ask her some additional questions so that we could highlight her and her work here on the blog.

Tell us a little about yourself. I live in the Northwest Florida panhandle, home to the beautiful Emerald Coast Beaches. I work part-time at a children’s shop, but am a full-time Mama to 2 crazy kids, Aislynn (6.5) and Kieran (3). I have been married to my best friend, Shaun for almost 8 years. Besides scrapbooking, I enjoy sewing, baking, cooking, spending time at the beach, and watching movies!
How long have you been making layouts and how did you get your start? I have always been interested in all things crafty, but after my daughter was born in 2005, I started scrapbooking. It wasn’t until about a year later that I discovered the online community of scrapbooking and really fell head over heels in love with it!
What are your favorite/essential tools:
I use my typewriter and my sewing machine on almost every page. I also use a lot of kraft and cream cardstock, and baker’s twine. Add some pretty patterned paper and I would call those my essentials.
Where do you find inspiration: Everywhere really, but mostly online galleries and blogs and pinterest. I am inspired heavily by colors and patterns, so flipping through magazines, or various advertisements can influence me as well. The biggest source of inspiration are my photos/stories though. I have a hard time scrapping photos or stories that don’t touch me at that particular moment.
Do you have any craft organization tips? Purge! It is amazing what a boost to your creativity going through your supplies and purging them can be. I think (for me, at least!) having too many choices can damper my creative mind;)
Can you share a tip with our readers?
Journal or add the date somewhere on your page…even if it is just scribbled on the back! I always think I will remember when it happened, but as the years tick by, it gets harder to place events and the specifics of them!!
We asked Pamella to share a recent layout with us in addition to her work featured in the June issue. Here is her project:
{Supplies: patterned paper: American Crafts; Stickers: American Crafts; Tags: Ormolu; Twine: Ormolu; Flair Buttons: Ormolu; Stamp: American Crafts; Ink: Stay On}

We’d like to thank Pamella for giving us a little peek into her designing world! You can see more of her work on her blog: http://happytobecreating.blogspot.com/

We’re always on the lookout for the next “Award Winning Designer.” Submit your work for a chance to win this prestigious title. You can find our latest calls here!
